THE WOMAN IN BLACK

October 18th-20th & 25th-27th @8pm

A lawyer hires an actor to tutor him in recounting, to family and friends, a story that has long troubled him concerning events that transpired while attending the funeral of an elderly recluse. There, he caught sight of a woman in black, the mere mention of whom terrifies the locals, for she is a specter who haunts the neighborhood where her illegitimate child was accidentally killed. It is rumored that anyone who sees her dies. Together, the lawyer and the actor recreate the events of that dark and stormy night.
LOVE STORIES (A WORKING TITLE)
Created by Sundown Collaborative Theatre
Spearheaded by Lindsey Hall
Staying true to our collaborative roots, this devised piece will be based on submissions from you, our community. We invite you to share some of your personal love stories with us, and we’ll use those stories to craft an immersive multimedia experience of love from the heart of Denton. We’re looking for stories exploring all of the complex and convoluted emotions and situations that pertain to love and relationships: painful, hopeful, regretful, joyful, heartwrenching, electric, uncanny, and everything else in between.

As Henry struggles to inject life into his thesis on Charles Darwin, a simple question becomes most perplexing: What do you want? Using elements of Brechtian Epic Theatre infused with razor-sharp social commentary, EVOLUTION follows Henry on a journey to Los Angeles with his girlfriend, Hope. When his uncanny pop-culture illiteracy becomes the fuel for an unexpected career in the entertainment industry, Henry must choose between the celebrity-culture success or academic obscurity, between embracing ambition and losing Hope.
